With so many ways to treat book damage and many considerations to make, a wise choice can spare you the agony of a destroyed book. Learn to assess your books and decide who should do the treatment.
Is there a book on your shelf that has seen better days? There are many ways to treat book damage (hint: tape is not one of them!). The factors to consider include materials, budget, sentiment, financial value, and who will do the work (you or a trained professional). Book restorer Sophia Bogle will discuss the various points to consider when it comes to repairing a beloved book. During our hour with Sophia, you'll learn how to assess your books and how to decide who should do the treatment. Feel free to bring a book or two to have evaluated during the talk; let your book become part of the learning experience for everyone!
Sophia S.W. Bogle has a diploma in Book Conservation from the American Academy of Bookbinding and has been restoring books professionally for over 30 years.
