Celebrate our right to read with Spokane Public Library. Bring a book, a picnic blanket or camp chair, and meet at the Ferris Perennial Garden at Manito Park for an hour of reading in community.

Banned Books Week takes place from October 4-10th. The theme this year is "Let Books Be: Protect the Freedom to Read." Saturday, October 10th, is Let Freedom Read Day!

To raise awareness for the day and for Banned Books Week, Spokane Public Library invites readers of all ages and interests to grab a book of their choice and join us at Manito Park's Joel E. Ferris perennial garden for an hour of reading. Participants are welcome to come and go as they please throughout the hour. Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields will be on hand with information about Banned Books Week and fun new library stickers. Let's fill the park with engaged readers!

If there is rain or wildfire smoke, this event will move to the South Hill Library.

By attending library programs, you are agreeing to potentially appear in photos/videos taken at our locations that may be used in promotional materials including social media.
