We'll read about the need for clean water and build a water filter! See full description for supplies list. Registration is required for this private Zoom event & closes 24 hours before the event.
We'll read The Water Princess by Susan Verde, about the childhood experiences of a girl from Burkina Faso who has to spend hours every day carrying water with her mother. We'll learn about water conservation and build a water filter to help clean water! Caregivers should plan to be on hand to help with the learning.
Supplies to have on hand: Empty plastic bottle (I suggest a plastic soda bottle, either 2Liter or 16.9ounce) - caregivers, please carefully cut the bottle in half around the middle beforehand, 2-3 coffee filters, 1 cup sand, and 1 cup gravel (any small rocks). You'll also need 2 cups of dirty water - an easy way to get this is to sweep your driveway and kitchen floor and add some of the dirt to 2 cups of clean water.
Register to participate and you will receive an email with a link with instructions on how to participate before the event. Only one registration per family/computer is necessary.
Technology requirements: You will need a device or computer with an internet connection and the Chrome browser, microphone and speakers to participate.
