We'll celebrate trees and observe how they make oxygen! See full description for supplies list. Registration is required for this private Zoom event. Registration closes 24 hours before the event.
Arbor Day exists to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees! We'll read about trees, think about what trees provide for others, an observe a leaf making oxygen! We'll also create a craft project.
Craft project supplies to have on hand: A brown paper bag, white glue or gluestick, a few medium sized rocks, scissors, and green tissue paper cut into small squares. If you'd like to add spring flowers to your tree, cut up some other colors, too!
Leaf experiment: If you'd like to create your own leaf experiment for the event, you'll need: water, clear containers, some freshly picked leaves and a few small rocks. The morning of the event, pick your leaves, and put them into your clear containers, place a small rock on top to hold the leaf under water, and pour water to cover the leaf. Place in a sunny spot such as a windowsill. Check out your leaves with us at the time of the event! You should see small bubbles of the oxygen the leaf made during the day on the surface of the leaf! I suggest you try this with several different leaves from trees or bushes.
Register to participate and you will receive an email with a link with instructions on how to participate before the event. Only one registration per family/computer is necessary.
Technology requirements: You will need a device or computer with an internet connection and the Chrome browser, microphone and speakers to participate.
