PEN Award-winning author Lindsay Hill unveils his new novel TIDAL LOCK, and WA State Book Award & PNBA winning author Sharma Shields will read a new short story. Auntie's Bookstore will sell books.
Lindsay Hill was born in San Francisco and graduated from Bard College. Since 1974 he has published six books of poetry and his work has appeared in many literary journals. Sea of Hooks, his first novel and the product of nearly twenty years' work, was published by McPherson in 2013. Prior to being awarded the 2014 PEN USA Fiction Prize, Publishers Weekly declared Sea of Hooks “the most underrated novel of 2013.” From 2016-2024, Lindsay Hill lived in Spokane. He now lives in Los Angeles.
Sharma Shields is the Washington State Book Award and PNBA winning author of the novels The Sasquatch Hunter's Almanac and The Cassandra. She'll be reading a short story she wrote that was published recently in the literary journal Epoch. Sharma is the Writing Education Specialist for Spokane Public Library.
About Lindsay Hill's Tidal Lock:
Seeking to unlock the mystery of her father’s disappearance years before, a mercurial young woman comes to believe that the barren city she inhabits is actually the underworld. Occupying the liminal spaces between reality, illusion, memory and mania, Olana recounts her allegorical journey from profound disorientation to absolute clarity. Told in 265 short, titled passages gathered into four parts, Lindsay Hill’s long awaited second novel offers the reader a challenging, provocative and rewarding narrative experience.
