Memory Gardens are specifically designed for people living with dementia and those who care for them. Is Spokane ready for one such public garden? Come hear the efforts of people who think we are!
Bob Scarfo, a landscape architect, and Debby Dodds, a local gerontologist specializing in dementia, are working to bring a public memory garden to Spokane. Memory gardens are not memorial gardens. Memory Gardens are specifically designed for people living with dementia and those who care for them. The same design criteria also support people living with autism. Memory gardens are open to everyone.
In this presentation, Bob Scarfo shares his and Debby Dodds' efforts and vision in bringing Spokane's first such public garden, where they are at in this pursuit, and the basic elements of a memory garden.
