A fun, accessible, and generative creative writing workshop led by Spokane Public Library?s Writing Education Specialist.
Writers at all stages of their writing careers (including those who have never written before!) are invited to participate in a generative writing session with local novelist and Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields. We’ll find inspiration in some very short stories (aka flash fiction) and then, using prompts, write short stories of our own. There will be an opportunity to share some of our penned work aloud at the end of the event (if desired).
About the presenter: Sharma Shields is the award-winning author of two novels, The Cassandra and The Sasquatch Hunter's Almanac, and a short story collection, Favorite Monster. Her short stories and essays have been published in such venues as The New York Times, Slate, Slice, The Kenyon Review, the Iowa Review, and elsewhere. She is the Writing Education Specialist for Spokane Public Library.
