A friendly, accessible poetry workshop for everyone and anyone.
Drop in for a poetry workshop! Accessible to anyone interested in expressing themselves through poetry. Bring your old stuff, create new stuff, and collaborate with other community members on their stuff. Enjoy prompts, examples, conversation, and feedback (if desired). The focus is on crafting something participants can be proud of and share with others. The goal of the workshop is to provide writers with support and information to improve their skills through their creative journey. Bring questions, rough drafts, and/or your favorite poems!
About the presenter:
Sarah Rooney is a non-binary poet who is co-organizer of Foray for The Arts with Greg Bem. Foray is a monthly traveling multiple disciplinary event established in January of 2024 that has been hosted by locally owned businesses around all Spokane. Their first chapbook, Mother Media was published in October of 2023 by Gray Dog Press. Sarah is pursuing their MFA in Creative Writing at EWU with a hope to refine their craft while putting together their next collection. They created “Speakeasy”, a weekly open mic in March of 2022. They have been featured at local events like Emerge and Terrain. They love being part of an active, creative community that inspires people to communicate and grow.
