YALSA award-winning author Stephanie Oakes guides participants in a four-week novel-writing workshop devoted to novels for youth and young adults.
In this four-week writing workshop, you'll learn the art of storytelling for young people. Author Stephanie Oakes, winner of the Washington State Book Award and YALSA from the American Library Association, will show you how to craft a propulsive plot, how to creating authentic characters, and how to avoid common pitfalls when writing for kids. Participants will explore the differences between young adult and middle grade books, two categories with infinite possibilities, and have fun discussing writing process and being creative. Whether you have a novel in progress or haven't written a word yet, this workshop will provide ideas, inspiration, and—most importantly—time to write.
