Hammer, anvil, and forge have been used to shape metal for centuries, and you too can learn the timeless craft of blacksmithing with Hive Artists-In-Residence, Columbia Fire and Iron.
Students will all learn safety at the forge and begin by making a nail, then will be able to choose from several beginner projects, including hooks, bbq tools, or jewelry. Volunteer instructors from Columbia Fire & Iron (CFI) non-profit blacksmithing club, will teach students a variety of forging techniques utilizing both gas and solid fuel forges, anvils, and a variety of hand tools.
Intended audience: ages 13-15 with a guardian also registered, 16-18 with liability form signed by a guardian, and adults.
Registration required. Please only register for one session so more people have a chance to try this technique! Beginners only (if you have done forging before, please make these spots available for people new to the art.
