Art Lab is a series where children and teens may experiment and try out new art styles, mediums/materials, or try out new concepts in art making and presentation.
Art Lab: Mixed Media with Plants
In this Youth Arts program, participants will learn the different methods of drying flowers and leaves, learn the basics of composition and arrangement, and we will explore how plants have been used in art through the ages and across different cultures to inspire them on how to use a garden in their art making for future projects. All leaves and flowers were gathered from Shadle Park Library's garden. All participants will take home their framed plant arrangement.
Caregivers are expected to stay during the program with their young person if they are 11 or younger. Please be prepared to stay if that is the case.
Middle school students are welcome to arrive as late as 4:00pm. They will miss the intro into drying flowers and discussion on plants in the Arts, but they won't miss out on the creating process.
By attending library programs, you are agreeing to potentially appear in photos/videos taken at our locations that may be used in promotional materials including social media. We strive to make events welcoming for people of all abilities.
