An inclusive writing group meant to inspire teens and foster literary community. The emphasis will be more on generating writing than on critique.
“Insist on your cup of stars. Once they have trapped you into being like everyone else, you will never see your cup of stars again.” –Eleanor Vance, from Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House.
Organized by our Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields, Cup of Stars Writing Club meets monthly to provide area teenagers a space to create, ask writing-related questions, find community, and generate fiction, poetry, and more. Engaging writing prompts and thoughtful discussions will inspire teens in a fun, educational, and casual environment.
This writing club is meant to be a safe, friendly, creative space for BIPOC teens, LGBTQ+ teens, and teens with disabilities. All tween and teen writers (6th grade through high school) are welcome so long as they respect the intentions of this space.
