Lenora will guide participants on a creative spark through a series of little compositions. You'll explore multiple ways of framing an idea through pages of handmade folded books.
In this class we'll learn to make simple folded book structures, including an X-book, accordion books, and snake books. Handmade books are wonderful devices to both generate ideas and recycle old ideas into new forms. We will use these folded structures to work in a series of related composition using drawing materials and collage.
In the first half of class we'll learn how to fold the book patterns. After a short break, we will explore the books as ways of developing content and composition.
All materials will be supplied but if you have a favorite medium that you like to work in, you may want to bring it. Be prepared to get messy (bring an apron or wear clothes that are okay to get paint on). Bring a lunch or snack for the break. There is no food available for purchase on-site.
Note: If you took the first session of this class, you may take this class as well to continue to explore book-making techniques and painting.
