Stage fright, though unpleasant, is a natural physiological response. In this workshop, you will learn to speak with calm confidence, even when you feel nervous.
Stage fright, though unpleasant, is a natural physiological response. But you don’t have to let it hold you stop you from sharing your stories, ideas, and visions within your community. In this workshop, you will learn to speak with calm confidence, even when you feel nervous. We’ll address the inner voice that affects your outer voice, how to stay present with sensation, and how to tap into a sense of purpose that can fuel your desire to use your voice. (Please note, if the stage fight you experience results in panic attacks that are debilitating, this probably isn’t the best first step for you in your journey towards recovering your ability to share your voice. You are the best judge of what is psychologically safe for you, and we trust you think through the kind of safety you need vs what we are able to offer in a one-hour workshop).
Brooke Kiener is the Dean of the School of Continuing Studies at Whitworth University. A former actor, director, and theatre professor, Brooke uses role play and improvisational activities to help people strengthen their physical and vocal presence, so they can be the change they want to see in the world.
