Learn a new way to write poetry through conflict in this introspective workshop. This event is part of the Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
Nonviolent Creativity is a workshop that uses the basic framework of nonviolent communication as well as other conflict-resolution tools to prompt and inspire poetry. This workshop is inspired by the academic method of Nonviolent Communication (by Marshall Rosenberg) and the presenter's experience as a certified mediator.
About the presenter: Asyia Gover is a writer, artist, educator, and mediator. Her poetry has appeared in the multimedia collection, SEXT, and she has been a featured performer at Foray For The Arts, Spokane Open Poetry Program, and Broken Mic. In March 2024 she was awarded “Rookie of the Year” by the Washington Mediation Association. She and her feline familiar, Cora, have made a home in the liminal space between eastern and western Washington State. East Side Solitude is her first chapbook. You can find more of her work online at asyias.poetry.blog.
