Generate poetry from photographs in this writing workshop led by one of Spokane's most lauded poets. This workshop is part of the Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
Susan Sontag wrote of painting vs. photography, “The painter constructs, the photographer discloses." In this workshop, we’ll read poems written either about or with photographs and then write some photograph-inspired poems of our own. Ideally, participants will bring their own photos, but some will be provided.
This poetry workshop is part of the annual Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
About the presenter: Laura Read is the author of several books of poetry, The Serious World, forthcoming in October, But She Is Also Jane, Dresses from the Old Country, Instructions for my Mother’s Funeral, and The Chewbacca on Hollywood Boulevard Reminds Me of You. She teaches at Spokane Falls Community College and in the MFA program at Eastern Washington University.
