A Vietnamese Lunar New Year Celebration

Celebrate the Year of the Horse with Spokane Public Library and VASA at our first public Tết event featuring a ceremony, lion dance, traditional food, folk art, and community activities.

In partnership with VASA (Vietnamese American Senior Association), Spokane Public Library is ushering in the Year of the Horse with our first-ever public celebration of Tết, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.

The celebration will feature:

• An ancestor holiday offering ceremony led by VASA, including a temporary shrine constructed at Shadle Library for the occasion
• A lively lion dance in the library marketplace
• Opportunities to take souvenir postcard photos with the lion and dancers
• Tastings of traditional Vietnamese foods
• A special gallery display of Vietnamese Tết folk art prints
• Drawings for many gift cards donated by Vietnamese and other Asian community members

This joyful celebration is made possible by VASA, who is generously sharing its private traditions with the broader community as an expression of gratitude.

By attending library programs, you are agreeing to potentially appear in photos/videos taken at our locations that may be used in promotional materials including social media.
