Replacing Shame with Agency: A Poetry Workshop
Finding a Home in Poetry for the Hard Things
Saturday, May 16
3:00pm - 3:50pm
Liberty Park
Liberty Park EventsSeek solace in writing poetry about "the shameful, the painful" in this workshop led by writer Stacy Boe Miller, the former Poet Laureate of Moscow, Idaho. Part of the Inland Northwest Poetry Salon.
Poetry can give us a place to find our power over the hurtful, the embarrassing, or the things we have no control of in our lives. In this workshop, we will study poems that beautifully spotlight the shameful, the painful, and the things we “shouldn’t” talk about, and then we will borrow the tools from those poems to make art out of our own stories.
About the presenter: Stacy Boe Miller is a prose writer and a poet. Her work can be found in The Sun, Copper Nickel, Terrain.org, and other journals.
