Shadle Park
Shadle Park EventsJoin Renee for a weekly Adaptive Tai Chi class designed to support strength, mobility, balance, and inner calm. No prior experience is necessary. Come as you are. Move at your pace.
In this weekly class, participants will explore:
*Flowing, adaptable Tai Chi forms (seated or standing)
*Coordinated wheelchair or chair-based movement
*Breathwork to support nervous system regulation
*Gentle sequences that promote circulation, flexibility, and balance
Tai Chi can positively impact stress, depression, and PTSD symptoms. The slow, rhythmic nature of the practice helps cultivate body awareness, grounding, and confidence. This class is open to all ages and abilities. No prior experience is necessary. Come as you are. Move at your pace.
This class is based on the Wheelchair/Adaptive Tai Chi program developed in 2006 by Dr. Zibin Guo. It is internationally recognized within medical and rehabilitation communities. Tai Chi is a tool of empowerment and exercise. It is described by Dr. Guo as an internal martial art — one that cultivates strength, balance, focus, and power from within. It emphasizes breath, alignment, fluidity, and mindful awareness. This makes the practice accessible and profoundly strengthening.
