A workshop about the craft of writing picture books, presented by a local, award-winning writer. This is part of the Lilac City Book Festival.
In this workshop, attendees will have a chance to think about what performance qualities a book should have for reading aloud, ways to prepare children for a read-aloud book, and tips to enhancing the reading experience for both the children and reader. Everyone will have the opportunity to practice reading aloud as well as titles to consider for varying ages. This will inspire authors of children's books to write for the ear as well as for the eye.
About the presenter:
Erin Pringle lives and writes in Spokane. She's the author of several titles, most recently Unexpected Weather Events. By day, she teaches preschoolers and kindergartners at the Spokane Montessori North School.
The Lilac City Book Festival is a yearly event to support local writers and illustrators of books for children and teenagers. It's organized by Spokane Public Library and presented in partnership with Wishing Tree Books and the local chapter of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
