Can you really make your own professional art supplies from nature? Brief demo and video lesson, plus drawing and painting with walnut ink afterwards!
Join us for a brief demonstration video on how to make your own walnut ink from walnut husks that can be found throughout the city and maybe even in your own backyard! After the video, we will test the ink out on paper with paint brushes and calligraphy pens.
Artist Playground provides young artists the opportunity to test and try out different art supplies. A brief demo is provided in the first 10 minutes at the start of the program, and the rest of the time is making, experimenting, and trying things out. At the end, artists write up their review on the art supply to keep for their artist records and to share with others.
This library program is a drop-in program. This means you can join us at any point between 4:00 - 5:00pm.
This program is intended for families with kids ages 5-8 with an adult, while kids ages 9-18 and do not need to be accompanied by their grown-up.
Nut allergy warning: walnuts will be present. Aprons will be available and provided as walnut ink will stain clothing.
