Participants will use the scientific method and household items to extract DNA. Participants will be provided with worksheets to take home and instructions on how to do this experiment at home.
Discovering DNA walks participants through the six steps of the scientific method and shows them how to extract DNA from a strawberry. Ever wonder what DNA looked like with your naked eye? Do you want to know how much DNA is in a piece of fruit? Come join local scientists and learn how to extract DNA from food! A demonstration AND active hands-on experiment will be provided for attendees.
Participants will be provided with worksheets to take home and instructions on how to do this experiment at home.
This program is intended for kids ages 9-18, and 6-8 with an adult.
