Bring your own fiber arts project and share space with other fiber artists or come to observe and learn. Each session will start with a demo!
Join The Stranded Spinners for these informal meet-ups where experts will share demonstrations and knowledge about fiber arts. You can bring your own project and share space while you work or just come to learn and observe. Fiber art demonstrations will occur near the beginning of the meet-up, but you can come as your schedule allows.
Appropriate for all ages but children should be accompanied by an adult.
About the Stranded Spinners:
The Stranded Spinners group loves fiber! All kinds-wool, alpaca, llama, cotton, silk, bamboo, canine (Samoyed, Old English Sheepdog), anything that will twist into a yarn or thread.
Some say that the invention of turning fiber into thread, yarn or rope should be listed with the invention of fire, agriculture or electricity for the advancement it has afforded to humanity. No longer did humans have to kill an animal for a skin for clothing or portable shelter and twisted fiber made into ropes allowed for animal domestication and many other things. Like many inventions, people turned this practical skill into an art form!
During their residency at The Hive® they hope to indulge in fiber experiments while continuing to build the fiber community (farmers, crafters, interested children and adults) in Spokane. They hope to show that the ?slow clothing? process can offer people much more than an item to wear.
