Join us for a hands-on art activity inspired by Spokane’s shrub-steppe landscape! Help build a large sage grouse collage using natural and found materials like feathers, beads, rocks, and more.
Artists-in-Residence, Linea Jantz and Christa Mattocks are working on a collaborative project about the plants and animals of the rocky, basaltic shrub-steppe of the Channeled Scablands that make up Spokane's natural landscape. As part of this project, they are learning all about the plants and animals that make this area home.
Come learn about their project, the plants, animals and geography of the basaltic shrub-steppe and take part in an art activity. Participants are invited to join Christa and Linea in a communal art project making a large sage-grouse with found art, natural materials, and traditional collage items. Participants can also make smaller pieces, which they can take home or donate for display. Pictured below is an example that they made with another bird.
All ages welcome—bring the family! Come at the beginning or drop in anytime between 3:30–5:30.
