South Hill EventsBlake Caldwell will teach the practical method of Chen Style Taijiquan. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a notebook and pen. Instruction will be followed by exercise. No prior experience required.
Practical Method is a method of teaching Chen Style Taijiquan, as developed by Hong Junsheng, who was a disciple of Chen Fake. Teacher Chen Zhonghua studied with Hong for many decades and is now the international standard bearer for this training method.
Instructor Blake Caldwell has studied Practical Method for over 15 years. Practical Method does not resemble the common styles of Taijiquan and is a highly conceptual and physics-based teaching that is unique to their school. Blake teaches the “Yilu” or 81 move first frame and its accompanying foundational exercises, plus qigong warmups and conceptual imagery.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and preferably flat soled sneakers. Bring a notebook and pen. No prior experience required.
