A monthly series set in the Inland NW Special Collections where esteemed local writers discuss their writing process. Rebekah Anderson, author of THE GRAND PROMISE, joins us this month.
Seattle novelist Rebekah Anderson will discuss how research shapes her fiction in this engaging writing series that takes place within the Inland Northwest Special Collections. Attendees will be able to ask Rebekah questions about her writing process and more. Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields and Archivist & Special Collections Librarian Dana Bronson will provide resources to help writers uncover further inspiration in the files, maps, books, and online databases of the Central Library.
This is part of an ongoing series perfect for anyone interested in writing and research, whether for fiction or non-fiction.
Rebekah Anderson's debut novel, "The Grand Promise," is a work of literary fiction about the real communities in Eastern Washington that were impacted by the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River. The book was called "a thoughtful look" by Kirkus Reviews and "enthralling" by Publisher's Weekly. Anderson is a third generation Washington native whose family came to the Pacific Northwest as a result of the Homesteading Act, and "The Grand Promise" is inspired by her family history. She earned an MFA in Fiction from New York University, where she worked under the mentorship of E.L. Doctorow. Learn more at RebekahLAnderson.com.
