The Poetry of Repair: A Kintsugi Journey

Studio EIn this comprehensive workshop, you'll discover the transformative power of kintsugi while enjoying traditional Japanese tea and sweets.
Join us for an immersive exploration of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with urushi sap, gold, and silver. This workshop combine hands-on experience with cultural insights, sustainability discussions, and culinary elements to create a unique learning experience.

What to Expect:
Introduction to kintsugi philosophy and materials (45 minutes)
- History and cultural significance
- Understanding traditional materials: urushi lacquer, gold powder, and natural additives
- Demonstration of repair techniques
Practical Assessment and Storytelling (45 minutes)
- Learn to evaluate pieces for repair
- Share stories of treasured broken items
- Discussion of sustainability and circular economy principles
Hands-on Experience (1 hour)
- Basic repair techniques demonstration
- Practice with provided materials
- Understanding the multi-step process
Tea Ceremony and Discussion (30 minutes)
- Traditional Japanese tea service
- Exploration of wabi-sabi philosophy
- Discussion of modern applications and sustainability
