Join SNAP and Spokane Public Library for an interactive experience to better understand the challenges many of our neighbors face every day.
Join SNAP and Spokane Public Library for this impactful and eye-opening event as part of Community Action Month! Participants will get a sense of what it is like to work and live paycheck to paycheck.
You will be assigned a role in a family or as a service provider to navigate a month’s worth of challenges and situations that ALICE families might find themselves in - like not being able to pay for rent and food or figuring out transportation if their vehicle dies. Check-in is at 2:15pm.
What is ALICE?
ALICE stands for Asset-limited, Income-constrained, Employed. The roles in this simulation mimic many realities SNAP clients face, and these ALICE families are still not the most vulnerable in our community.
What you’ll leave with:
We hope participants will better understand the reality for those living in poverty and how SNAP helps address these issues and helps our neighbors.
